The food an its presentation are beyond compare with delicious flavors and aromas at each meal! The views from our room onto the garden are splendid. The staff are very friendly, caring and extremely welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed the baths both private and ladies bath and found the Mukaitaki a very charming ryokan and look forward to returning some day. My son and his family also plan to travel to Aizu to stay at Mukaitaki.

Just keep in mind taht it is an older building with lots of wood and tatami mats, and we needed allergy pills, being used to completely dead & sterile environments. I would highly recommend coming here.

It was the most beautiful I have stayed in with the best value!

There was nothing this ryokan lacked! It was the most beautiful I have stayed in with the best value! It had a charming atmosphere and the two main baths were absolutely gorgeous! The staff was so kind and brought us steamed sweet potatoes on our first evening and sent us home with Nagano apples and a little omiyage! And it was so close to the snow monkeys which are a must visit! There are not enough words to explain how amazing this place was and I would go back to Yudanaka just for another night.

Great place for an authentic Ryokan stay without leaving Tokyo. It was a little bit tricky to find initially and unfortunately the poor weather made it a bit of a pain to get to and fro. The staff were excellent and had good English. Made use of the private bath area which was very relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing. Highly recommended.

It is a beautiful old traditional Japanese inn, all wooden, very unusual. The staff are excellent. and the rooms very comfortable, all with tatami mats, and a lot of character. The only drawbacks are that there are shared bathrooms, in the Japanese style, and the walls are thin, so if anyone near you is being noisy at night, you do hear it.
