The Maiko performance was so beautiful. We enjoyed the Kyoto "Kaiseki" cuisine too.

The Maiko performance was so beautiful. I really enjoyed the whole time with the maiko dancers, especially when I played the " drinking game with maiko ". I knew everyone was laughing when I lost the game and drank the whole grass of beer. (was it Kirin or Asahi?), but I have never seen such a wonderful show before. The two ladies from Australia also seemed to have enjoyed very much. Before I left the venue (Gion Hatanaka next to Yasaka Jinja Shrine) booked the maiko show for another day because my friend was visiting Kyoto next week. ( I work in Shiga, the neighboring town of Kyoto.) He looked so happy with attending the performance and we enjoyed the Kyoto "Kaiseki" cuisine too. Next time I come to Kyoto, I would stay in the ryokan Hatanaka and hope to see the beautiful maiko again!

The open air bathes were wonderful and the Kaiseki food and service was simply the very best.

tama_0323.gifThis was our first time to travel to Japan and our visit to Gyokushoen Arai was our first visit in a Ryokan. The room was traditional Japanese style architecture with a lovely view of Suruga Bay. The open air bathes were wonderful and the Kaiseki food and service was simply the very best. We were treated like royalty and higly recommend a visit here in Toi. Arigato.

We liked the Japanese room that didn't smell smoke.

It was a nice hotel. We liked the Japanese style room that didn't smell smoke. It was located in a very pleasant neighborhood but it was noisy in the morning even on the 6th floor. It was quite easy to find the hotel. It would be nice if we could of used the fridge for our own things.
